Hello, I’m Basim Saibawi, an Iraqi-American moving between Kansas City and Quebec. Trained as a civil engineer, I spent years working in the oilfields. But during the isolation of the 2019 pandemic, I made a bold decision; to leave my profession and follow my lifelong passion, oil painting. That journey eventually led me to the world of digital art, where I found a perfect blend of creativity and structure.
Today, I use both the analytical mindset of an engineer and the creative eye of an artist to craft infographics and visual content that make complex information clear and compelling. My work lives at the intersection of precision and beauty, where data becomes story, and technical detail is transformed into visual impact.
While working on visual storytelling, Dr. Ariane Plaisance, an anthropologist and researcher told me about the growing need to turn academic research into short, engaging video abstracts, something that could make science more accessible and memorable. That’s when I launched ScisVi.
ScisVi helps researchers and institutions transform their articles into powerful videos that explain why their work matters and why others should read it.
